MAMA CARRIES
MAMA CARRIES
Source : Noni
Ingredients :
300 g butter
400 g flour (I took out 1/4 cup)
130 g cornflour
100 g icing sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Topping :
1/2 egg white ~ beat till fluffy
90 g icing sugar
1 tablespoon cornflour
To scribble :
Scoop a bit of the topping above and mix with cocoa powder or you can also use chocolate emulco
Method :
1. Sift flour and cornflour. Set aside.
2. Beat butter and icing sugar till well combined. Add in vanilla essence.
3. Add in flour, bit by bit till soft dough is formed.
4. Roll dough 1/2 cm thick and cut using a heart shape cookie cutter. Arrange on a tray.
5. Using your finger, spread the topping on top of each cookie.
6. Use a clean toothpick and dip into the cocoa mixture and scribble on top of the white spread.
7. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 150 C. Just use the bottom heat to ensure the top doesn't browned that much. Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes.
What I did...
1. I used margarine.
2. There's a lot of balance for the topping. I normally use 3/4 recipe for the topping, and that should do it.
3. For the cocoa mixture, I added a few drops of brown coloring to give it a darker color.

7. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes. Cool for a couple minutes on the baking sheet before moving the cookies to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Note :
Reasons for doing this are :

INSTAGRAM....
Something that quite a number of friends had asked me to register, a long time ago. And what was my answer? I DON'T THINK SO! But I guess that I DON'T THINK SO lasted last Thursday evening. Don't really know what got into me, but the way my sister and her friends in our whatsapp group we 'arguing' about it, makes me the lost one out! Why? Because I am the only one who doesn't have an Instagram account.
Finally last Thursday evening, I ventured myself into the world of Instagram with the help of my daughter. I was so excited that Fatin kept shaking her head upon seeing the mom's gedik expressions! Hahaha... bear with me dear girl! (She doesn't have a choice, does she! Hahahaha *evil laugh*). I didn't announce to any of them that I had created an account. Then when one found out, well, the other two will surely know. We don't keep secrets! And me, having something new, I will explore till I had enough. I posted I-dunno-what photos! As long as I have something up on my Instagram, I am happy enough.
After I had enough with the girls, I started to 'insta-walk'. And landed on Che Mat Gebu's IG. I just feel like trying to click on the heart button on one of his very very old entries. Thinking that, well...it is a very old entry. He won't realise then. But I was wrong!! My phone kept giving me notification sound. Oh oh... what is happening? Just now the phone was quiet. Why now so bubbly? Who else would cause such commotion if not my dear brother Mat Gebu. He posted on his FB wall, that MamaFaMi is now on IG. Oh Mat, why didn't you wait till I am familiar with the app. Just can't wait to 'torture' me in a sweet way huh? Hahaha...
Anyway Mat, despite being a bit haywire for awhile, frankly speaking, I enjoyed it. Thank you so much Mat. Aura mu memang kuat dik!
So yes, MamaFaMi is now on Instagram as mamafami..... We will see, how long this IG account will last! Hahaha.... Happy weekend to all!

Viewers discretion is not adviced!
Has been a year,
It comes again;
Selamat Hari Raya,
Maaf Zahir Batin.
Mountain Daik's branches got three,
Pandan Island is far far in the middle;
With friends, relatives and family,
Hari raya is time to mingle.
If your garden got hot spring,
May I take a dip in it please?;
Balik kampung time better no speeding,
Unless you wanna give bonus to the police.
Push wood pull wood,
Keranji fruit inside a boat;
Hari raya got lots of food,
But don't eat too much like a goat.
Two three cats run run,
Where got the same as the striped one;
That's all for me I gotta run,
Duit raya? Where got one?
Selamat hari raya, maaf zahir batin
Finally I hung my 'SHOP CLOSE' notice last Monday. Done with baking cookies and on with the final cleaning of the house (though the house is not sparkling clean but it's cleaner than before. Hahahaha....). And yesterday when I wanted to change the curtain in the kitchen, I can't find the curtain to replace the one hanging at the moment. To make things worst, I've even forgotten how my other curtain looks like! Hahahaha.... While 'digging' for the curtain, I found some cotton material I bought way back in Malawi. And guess what, I sew the new kitchen curtain yesterday! Don't even dare to take a peek at the workmanship, or you will end up with sore eyes! But nevertheless.... my kitchen finally had it's 'baju raya'. That's what count the most....at least to me... hehehe...
Enough ramblings here as I've got to rush today. Going to fetch my darling son. Huhuhu.. can't wait to see him. Miss him loads!!!!
And oh, here are the cookies that I've managed to bake for this year.... thaaa dhaaaa..... (there is no need for viewers dicretion ya... peace!)

When I saw these Teddy Bear Cookies, I fell in love at how cute those teddies look. Whats more, the photos displayed in Masam Manis Blog by the talented Puan Azlita are just awesome. I was confident I have the cutters, so why not have something cute to serve on the table.
Last weekend, dear Mr Hubby was kind enough to drive me to one of the bakery supplies shop to get the stuffs I needed. When THE day came, I confidently prepared the dough. Ok... no problem there..... And when it's ready, I went to my 'treasure chest' and start digging for the teddy bear cutter. I think I've 'ransacked' my cupboard no less than twice but the cutter are no where to be found. Dang! I DON'T HAVE A TEDDY BEAR CUTTER! Accept it mama! Huhuhuhu....
Dough is ready, no teddy bear cutter. Life goes on. Yeah so... I will just use whatever cutters I please right? The police won't arrest me for that, I am sure. So yeah, I ended up with these square cookies. And since I've bought the heart shape sugar deco, why not use it as well. Nothing goes to waste then. ;)
Dear Puan Azlita,
I am so sorry I just have to change the name of your lovely Teddy Bear cookies. How can I call it Teddy Bear cookies when they are rectangles! Hahaha... Jangan mare ya! Thank you for the lovely recipe. They are easy to prepare and crunchy too. Thank you.

WASPADA ...!!
TEKSI NI ROSAK.... BANTULAH TOLAK...
Hihihii...amboiiiii seriusnya membaca! Hehehe... jangan mare! Mama pun terkena. Sharing is caring okay! Peace!

There are advantages and disadvantages if you have the capability of baking things. I am talking mainly about me and I don't know about you people out there ya. I tend to be stingy! But stingy when it comes to buying things for me and not for others.
For example, everytime we dine or buy takeaways from Subway, my girl will want a piece or two of the cookies. And each piece costs RM1.50. Everytime I had to pay for the cookies, I would say to myself, I can do this... it's easy. And I will go home and start searching for the recipe. Found some recipes with good feedbacks, printed it out and then forgotten all about it, until the next visit to Subway with my daughter!
Finally today, I managed to try out one of the recipes I printed quite a while ago. As usual, if the recipe is from abroad, I will do some adjustments especially on the sugar amout. This particular recipe is very easy to prepare and surprisingly, my son loves it too. Then I am pretty sure, my girl will love it more. Kakak, In Sha ALLAH this Friday you'll get your share okay... *wink*. Thank you to Elizabethbh who posted this recipe at Allrecipes dot com.

Have a nice day!
It is 26th Ramadhan today. Time flies without me realizing it. Honestly, I feel this Ramadhan went by so fast! Eid is just around the corner! Maybe I was just TOO busy trying to get everything organised and settled. But I am quite happy with what I've achieved so far. I hope to be able to complete my long list-to-do before Ramadhan ends.
Thank you again to all of you for sparing some of your precious time to pay me a visit eventhough my blog had been quite quiet especially this Ramadhan. I hope to be able to update more often if time permits.

Had been keeping this recipe for quite a while and kept saying that I am going to try it out. Well, the recipe stayed safe and sound in the file until this week.. finally it's free!!! Hahaha... anyway, thank you to Puan Harlina Mahdar of RNet for the recipe. But it was Mak Lang Azie who shared the recipe with me. And not to mention Che Mat Gebu for always 'poisoning' me with his tried and tested recipes. One of them is this lovely Suji Brunei. Thank you to all.
