Biskut Dahlia

To sleep or not to sleep... ....normally that question only require very little and almost zero thinking and consideration from me. The answer will always be TO SLEEP. But out of the norm, yesterday, I had a hard time agreeing to myself with that TO SLEEP answer. Thanks to these two ladies, Mak Lang and Jid who managed to reverse the answer to NOT TO SLEEP! I thought of taking a short (boleh percaya ke short! Hehehe...paling short pun, 1 jam kot...hihihi) nap around 7 am. Syahmi was sleeping downstairs after sehri and the way he slept, made me really wanted to join him. Gosh, how I have to fight the feeling (wah...dah macam lagu ler plak bunyinya... can't fight the feeling.. hihihi)! Both these ladies kept chatting with me until it was just too late to take a nap! Thank you ladies...jasa-jasamu ku kenang! Hahaha....
But actually, I never regretted with that decision. I managed to finish the house chores in good time and even cooked for Iftaar, much much earlier than usual. Infact I managed to bake two cookies, one of which is my daring experiment! Will share the recipes with you guys soon, not to worry. And as a reward to my sacrifice, I got to go galavanting with dear hubby in the evening.... you know how much I love to go for a ride! Hahaha...macam budak kecik je....

As mentioned, one of the cookies that I've just tried yesterday came from the ever famous cyber chef Che Mat Gebu's Blog . According to Mat, this recipe was from Norazie RN Thank you so much to Norazie and Mat for sharing this lovely Biskut Dahlia recipe. Only thing, mine are not as lovely as yours. Note to Mat : You must have forgotten to paste the 'mandrem' you used when baking those lovely cookies of yours.... hahahaha..... Here's the recipe if anyone care to try it for this Eid.....



BISKUT DAHLIA

Ingredients
:

300 g butter
140 g icing sugar
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon rose essence
240 g flour*
100 g cornflour*
160 g custard flour* (*sift together)
Red cherries

Method :

1. Cream butter and icing sugar. Add in egg yolks and rose essence. Continue beating.
2. Add in sifted flour a little at a time until a soft dough is formed.
3. Place a bit of dough into the mould and press onto the baking tray, lined with greaseproof paper. Place a piece of cherry on top.
4. Bake in a preheated oven at 175 C for 15 to 20 minutes.
5. Leave to cool before removing from the tray. Keep in an airtight container.

  2. dahlia looks just fine to me..my dahlia collapsed everytime...penyek je.seronoknye boleh tidur ye...mak teh kalu tidoq kalu,gerenti sakit kepala.

    Thank you for your kind words Shabs and thanks for visiting. The recipe requires a lot of butter because it needs to be soft enough to go through the mould.

    Maybe Mak Teh punya Dahlia's dough is a bit too soft tak? That's why it cannot hold the shape. Kita pun kadang-kadang kalau tidur, sakit kepala juga, tapi kalau dah ngantuk, tidur aje!

    Eh mama ni macam tau2 aje kita nak buat. copycat ye? lol. farina and frens plan nak buat next week followed by buka puasa. eh mama, boleh tak agaknya mama ambik gambar masa letak dough dlm the mould and press? farina tak pernah buat and takde mould so tak boleh nak picture camne buat nya jadi bunga like tht. thanks mama!

  24. salam mama... saya aru try buat biskut ni buat pertama kali.. unfortunately ia jadi flat bila saya bakar.. so if this happen, leh saya tambah tepung gandum lagi tak.. tq mama

    Dah try this resipi tadi. Terlalu lembik so kena tambah 1/4 cup tepung gandum and 1 tbsp corn flour. Sedap!!...Mungkin pasal tempat dan tepung yang say a guna berlainan so kena adjust sikit. Tapi tetap sedap! Terima ksih.:)
