Ghee Tarts

Hello everyone....

Hope all are in good health after stuffing your tummy with food, food and more food. And I bet, those who are working, will find it hard to get back to work after the long holiday (bet many of you applied for a whole week leave right?)

Well this Eid, I had quite a bad experience actually. On the third and forth day of Eid, I was flat. Down with food poisoning! That wasn't my first experience of food poisoning, but I must say, this one was the worst! I was all drained out! I even had a jab...huhuhu... all thanks to the shirmp. I am pretty sure, that is the culprit because even mom, my sis and my brother-in-law wasn't feeling good after eating the shrimp from that restaurant. Mr Hubby, Fatin and Syahmi didn't eat shrimp, and they are all fine. So yes... it's the shrimp!

Actually we planned to stay in Malacca till Tuesday but then, had to prolong it till Thursday. On Saturday, we had a lovely experience (I guess that's to balance the horrible experience I had earlier on). It wasn't planned but it just happened. We had a 'Convoi Raya' with our Malawi Circle of Friends. We started from Kg Dato' Baginda - Sg Ramal - Putra Heights - Shah Alam - Bandar Enstek - Bandar Seri Putra. From there we split with them and went to one of our Sri Lanka Circle of Friends, now residing at Bandar Bukit Mahkota. Didn't spend much time there as we had to rush home. Another family from Sri Lanka Circle of Friends were coming to visit us. Gosh, it was very tiring but definately something worth treasuring......

Oki doki, let me just post another cookie recipe that I had tried before Eid. It was lovely and as always, the recipe was suggested to me by my trusted friend, none other than Mak Lang The Great . Thanks Mak Lang for the melt in the mouth pineapple tart.... yummmmm......

For the recipe.....


Ingredients A :
250 g butter
2 egg yolks
3 tablespoons ghee
3 tablespoons castor sugar

Ingredients B :
350 g flour

Pineapple jam

Method :

1. Cream ingredients A until just combined.
2. Add in flour until a soft dough is formed.
3. Press the dough through a pineapple tart mould.
4. Place the filling in middle and roll. Arrange on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
5. Brush with some egg yolk, mixed with a drop of yellow food coloring.
6. Bake in a preheated oven till golden brown.

Eid Mubarak 1430AH

Salaam to everyone...

My apologies for the silence. Too many things to catch up and too many things happened, be it a pleasant or the opposite. But I will take everything with an open heart knowing that ALLAH knows best. I am sure, by today, many of you are at your kampung, enjoying the precious moments with family, especially to those who has big family. It'll be extra noisy, extra cheerful and to mommies, extra tired. Not forgetting, extra joy!

For us, this year is the first year to celebrate Eid without abah around. It'll be extra sad for us, I can't deny. But abah, you will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be with us...forever.... Mak and my other two siblings are back in Malacca yesterday. We will only be joining them soon as we paid our visit to abah's eternal resting place on first Eid, insyaAllah...

Anyway, here's wishing all of you my lovely visitors a HAPPY EID and please accept our sincere apologies for all the wrong doings and if any of my entries or language had offended any of you. It is unintentionally. To those driving home, please watch the speed limit, drive safe and may you reach your destination safely. Take care...

Biskut Samperit Norazie

Now you can say that I am under pressure...Why? Because I haven't settle quite a number of chores before Hari Raya which is just around the corner. But yeah... MamaFaMi never learns her lesson. Be it the easy way or the hard way! Mama...mama... when are you going to change? Huhuhu... only time will tell....

So yeah... since I have to rush rush rush (mmm kalau dapat kereta RUSH, best gak kan... ahakss....berangan je la ma....), let me just post this new recipe I've tried yesterday. Another cookie recipe of course... I still have to bake a few more cookies before I can call it a day. All the best to me...

I took this recipe from Resipi dot Net. The recipe was posted by Norazie. Thank you Norazie for sharing this lovely recipe with us. It is surely a melt in the mouth cookies. Only thing, I didn't shape it the way Norazie did, which is very lovely, but made it like the traditional samperit cookie look. It's the taste that counts....*wink*

For the recipe....



300g butter
160g icing sugar
100g corn flour
160g custard flour
240g flour
2 egg yolks
a few drops Rose essence (I added)

Colored chocolate rice ~ to sprinkle

Method :

1. Cream butter and icing sugar.
2. Add egg yolks and rose essence. Stir to mix.
3. Add in the dry ingredients to form a very soft dough.
4. Place the dough into the cookie press mould and press onto the baking tray lined with parchment paper.
5. Sprinkle with colored chocolate rice.
6. Bake in a preheated oven at 150 C for 20 minutes.
7. Leave to cool before storing in an air tight container.

Spaghetti Bolognese ala Hanieliza

Salaam to all....

Since I can't come up with anything to write today and I still have cookies to bake, so I'll go straight to the recipe that I've tried recently. After being tortured and tormented by Kak Liza 's spagetthi photo, I just had to try it out. But I did a slight improvisation to the recipe to suit my tastebuds. Thank you Kak Liza for the recipe.....


Ingredients :

1 packet of spaghetti
400 gm minced meat
1 can button mushroon ~ halve the mushrooms
1 carrot ~ diced
2 piece young corn ~ cut to small pieces
4 fresh tomatoes ~ diced
Yellow pepper (capsicum)
4 tablespoons chillie paste
2 onion ~ diced
1 garlic ~ minced
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 bottle Kimball Tradisional Spaghetti sauce
1/2 cups water
olive oil
salt to taste
leek ~ sliced

Method :

1. Boil water with a bit of salt. Once boiling, add in the spaghetti and cook till al dente. Drain the spaghetti and set aside.
2. Heat olive oil and saute diced onion and minced garlic till fragrant.
3. Add in diced tomato and cook till soft. Add in chillie paste. Stir.
4. Add in minced meat and leave till the meat is cooked.
5. Add in Kimball Tradisional Spaghetti sauce, the vegetables, salt, water and black pepper and leave to cook.
6. Remove from heat and pour onto the spagetthi.
7. Garnish with sliced leek.

Suji Salju

I am so relieved! Alhamdulillah.....

I had planned to do this and that soon after sehri... goodness, where did that energy come from! Hahaha.. but till now, 13.05 pm to be precise, I had done only about 20% of what I had planned. Thanks to a piece of paper! I had been looking for a letter that was addressed to me, regarding my abah's Takaful claim. I was named the beneficiary and had to collect the cheque from them in Malacca. I 'ransacked' the areas I think that piece of paper might be but to no avail. Finally I sat down to take a break (cannot take Kit Kat as it's fasting time.... hahaha... that's what you get when you watched too much advertisements!!!) and decided to give mom a call. After the how are you and what not, I asked her, "Mak, surat takaful....." (translation : Mom...that Takaful letter). She cut me there and said, " Ada dalam handbag mak" (translation : It's in my handbag). GOD.... that time, I felt like a big boulder was lifted up from my shoulder. Huhuhu... All the time wasted... if only I had made the phone call much earlier, it'll make a difference...
Moral of the story : Mama... get yourself organised! Hahaha...

Yesterday I had mentioned about the cookies that I had done, so today, I'll just post the photos... here they are...

Biskut Tapak Kuda

Recipe to share today, was kidnapped from Mak Lang Azie's Blogspot . Thanks Mak Lang for suggesting me to try out this recipe.

For the recipe.......

Ingredients A :

150g Ghee
100g butter
100g castor sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 egg yolk

Ingredients B :

100g cornflakes - grind finely
100g cornflour
50g sugee flour
280g flour (the amount may differ)

For coating :
75g milk powder
25g icing sugar (lessen or omit if your milk powder is sweet enough)

Method :

1. Mix together ingredients A.
2. Add in ingredients B until you get a soft dough.
3. Roll to about 1cm thick and cut with a cookie cutter of your choice.
4. Arrange on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 150 C for 25 minutes (every oven differs)
6. Once baked, coat with the mixed milk powder and icing sugar.

Salaam and a very good morning to all of you lovely people out there....

It's been a while since I last updated my page. I was busy making Eid cookies to fulfill the little order that I got. Among the cookies that I've made are Crunchy Chocolate Chips Cookies, Denmark Cookies, Biskut Kerang, Cornflakes cookies and Biskut Tapak Kuda which I had to improvised the shape slightly as I can't find my U cutter that time. So for this year, the Tapak Kuda (Horse Shoe) cookies will be known as O cookies! Hahaha.....I am almost through with the orders, so now I can start thinking of baking for the family. There'll be 4 bottles each as there are 4 houses that I need to pass to. Maybe not the whole set, or maybe yes..... we'll see....

Speaking of cookies, as promised in my previous entry, I will now announce the creator of my cookie's name, CHOCOLICIOUS, hence the winner of the small fun game that I had organised. Thank you to all that had participated in the naming and also the poll. The winner is.....*drum roll*....

I will now post the recipe of the said cookies. And as usual, when it comes from MamaFaMi, this verse applies.... try at your own risk! Hahahaha....

For the recipe.......


Ingredients :

170g margarine
110g castor sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
*300g flour
20g cornflour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Enough hazelnuts, roasted
Almond nibs
Cooking chocolate

Note : Amount of flour may differ

Method :

1. Cream margarine and castor sugar.
2. Add in egg yolk and vanilla essence.
3. Sift flour, cornflour and baking powder. Add into the cream mixture a little at a time until a soft dough is formed.
4. Take a bit of dough and place a hazelnut in the middle then cover with dough.
5. Roll the dough in the almond nibs and arrange on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.
6. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 C for 20 to 25 minutes. Leave to cool.
7. Melt enough cooking chocolate and coat the cookies.
8. Place in a papercups and sprinkle with a bit of almond nibs.

Sausage Rolls

Good morning everyone. I hope all of you will have a pleasant day today... This morning I woke up feeling tired and energy-less. Thanks to the mosquitoes for our restless night. But I have to snap out of this mood, as I have places to go and lots of chores to do, Wakey wakey mama!!!!!!!

Shopping...that is one of my agenda today. Just for a pair or two baju kurung for Eid. I hardly go shopping for stuffs other than groceries. And I don't take long to shop for a trolley full of stuffs! I guess, if I were to enter the Supermarket Sweep Challenge, I stand a chance to win! Hahaha....I remembered once, like 10 years back, when I was staying at USJ3, I used to follow my dear neighbour, Kathryn to the Subang Jaya Giant to shop. She would say,"Take your time shopping today because I am free and I don't have to rush". So I took my own sweet time, but then, in 20 minutes time, I was done with a trolley full of goods! Kathryn would be amazed with my speed! Hahaha... Thanks to dear hubby for being a good coach!!! Hihii...

Oki doki, time for recipes now. Yesterday I finally tried baking the sausage rolls from Che Mat Gebu's blog . I didn't follow how Mat go about preparing the sausages. I just use plain chicken frankfurters. According to him, it's a recipe from Chef Norzailina Nordin. But as usual, mine didn't turn out as debomb as Mat's rolls...
Mat, baik ko ajo mama 'mantera semerah padi' ko tu.... kalau tak nanti, kempunan mama tau.... ko sampai hati ke tengok mama ko ni kempunan Mat oi...

Thanks to Chef Norzailina Nordin for the recipe and to Mat for being a 'promoter tak bergaji' yang baikkkk punya...Mat, mama kopipes je eh... halal tau....

For the recipe....


Ingredients :

*270 g high protein flour
*50 g Hong Kong flour (* I just used 320g multipurpose flour)
60 g castor sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 tablespoons milk powder
1 1/2 teaspoons instant dried yeast
1/2 teaspoon bread improver
1/2 teaspoon bread softerner
1 nos egg (C grade)
140 ml water
30 g butter/margarine
Enough sausages

Method : using Bread Maker

1. Pour the water into your bread maker pan.
2. Gently add in the flour to cover the liquid.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients except butter and sausages.
4. Press the setting to BASIC DOUGH setting.
5. Once the dough is well incorporated, add in the butter and let the bread maker continue kneading.
6. When a smooth, soft and elastic dough is formed (I didn't wait for it to finish it's cycle), remove it from the pan. Leave to prove for about an hour.
7. Roll the dough flat and cut to long even strips (3cm x 25cm). Take a strip and wrap around the sausages.
8. Arrange the rolls on a baking tray and leave to prove for about 45 minutes.
9. Brush the proved rolls with a bit of fresh milk and sprinkle some sesame seeds.
10. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 17 to 20 minutes.



270 g tepung roti (high protein flour)
50 g tepung halus (tepung Hong Kong)
60 g gula halus
1 camca teh garam (mat guna 1/2 camca teh)
2 1/2 camca besar susu tepung
1 1/2 camca teh instant yeast
1/2 camca teh bread improver
1/2 camca teh bread softerner
1 biji telur gred C
140 ml air
30 g mentega
Sosej secukupnya (mat guna sosej "Ayamas"= 14 batang)
2 keping keju cheesedale, dipotong kepada 14 bahagian sama besar


UNTUK DOH :- Satukan semua bahan diatas kecuali mentega dan sosej. Gaul hingga semua bersatu dan menjadi doh, masukkan mentega dan terus menguli hingga mendapat doh yang lembut, kenyal dan licin (lebih kurang 15 - 20 minit). Alihkan doh ke dalam satu bekas dan tutup permukaan dengan plastic cling. Biar naik 1 jam. KAEDAH LAIN :- Masukkan kesemua bahan2 diatas kecuali sosej, ke dalam Bread Maker, pilih setting for dough dan tekan "ON". Tunggu hingga siap.
Sosej dicelur dan sejukkan, dibelah tengahnya buat macam poket dan masukkan1 potongan keju tadi, buat hingga siap. Canai doh dan potong supaya mendapat potongan berukuran 3 cm lebar dan 25 cm panjang. Balut sekeliling sosej. Letak atas dulang yang telah disapu sedikit mentega. Buat hingga habis.
Biarkan 45 minit sehingga doh naik. Sapu kuning telur + sedikit susu, tabur bijan dan bakar dalam oven pada suhu 180C selama 17 - 20 minit. Sejukkan atas jaringan sepenuhnya sebelum dihidangkan.

Cookies's Name Poll & Kacang Phool

First and foremost, thank you so much to all that had participated in this little game that I had created. I am so pleased to receive quite a number of responses, starting from the very first day I put up the form. Unfortunately, some problems occured with the form after the first day it was up. Maybe I've overlooked somewhere or maybe I don't really know how to go about placing the form on my blog. Thank you to MyHasla for bringing this problem up or I wouldn't have known about it.

To be fair to all, I have 'appointed' 3 trusted and creative juries (names withheld) to do the short listing for me. I had asked them to choose 3 names from the list. So now is your turn to finalise the name for me, if you're still with me that is..... please take a few seconds of your precious time to do the voting and I thank you in advance. The poll will be up till this Sunday. Actually I was thinking of Friday, but then, I am not too sure whether I'll be able to update my blog by then. So let's just prolonged it to Sunday huh.... Once again, thank you to all that had participated and always remember...kita semua adalah pemenang, tiada pengalah.....



For Iftaar today, I had prepared Asam Pedas Ikan Tenggiri and Kailan Goreng to go with plain rice, for hubby and Syahmi. It was Syahmi who really wanted the Asam Pedas and from school, both of us went to several shops, hunting for Ikan Tenggiri. It seems, if it's full moon, the fishes are difficult to get, at least that's what one of the shopkeepers said. How true is this, I am not sure. Finally we found some not bad looking ikan tenggiri cut at SSW. Thought of buying just 3 pieces but Syahmi said to buy 4...hahaha..that's what you get for bringing a fasting kid along with you to do shopping!!

Besides the above menu, I had prepared some garlic bread to go with Mummy Jam 's Kacang Phool. The first time I saw her dish, I was already wishing for a plate. Thank you Mummy for discovering the recipe and to the creator of the recipe, credit goes to you too. At first, I thought of baking my own baguette but time was running out, due to our 'hunting activity', I had to cheat and get the French Loaf from Giant... after all it's hasslefree and it just cost me RM0.99! The funny part is, when I asked Syahmi to take one baguette, while I stayed in the line at the cashier counter, he asked this my new rotan (cane)? Hahaha... Syahmi with the creative mind!!!

For the recipe......

Ingredients :

1 can of broad beans (kacang parang, I used Kimballs)
200 gm of mincemeat (I used minced chicken)
2 tablespoons of chili paste
2 tablespoons of meat curry powder
6 shallots – blend into fine paste
3 garlic – blend into fine paste
1 inches of ginger – blend into fine paste
1 piece of assam gelugor or assam keeping
A handful of chop coriander leaves
A bit of sugar (I added)

For garnishing :

1 onion – diced
2 tomatoes – diced
2 green chillies – slice
Sunny side fried eggs
3-4 limes (I omit)


1. Heat some oil in the wok and sautéed the onion-garlic-ginger paste together with chilli paste till fragrance.
2. Add in the curry powder with a few table spoonful of water to prevent the curry powder from getting burnt, till oil floats to the top and the paste became thicken,
3. Add in the mincemeat, assam keping , salt, sugar and about ½ cup of water. When the mincemeat are cooked, add in the broad beans ( you can mash ½ of the beans if you like) and lastly the chopped coriander leaves.

To serve:
Spoon the kacang phool into bowls and garnish with fried egg, sprinkle some diced onions, tomatoes, chillies and lime.

This dish is best eaten with bread, especially the French loaf. I transformed my French Loaf to Garlic Bread.
