SWEET BUN RAISINS

T.H.E R.A.M.B.L.I.N.G.S

News up to date : Still working on my blood pressure reading, which I can say, not much improvement since that day. Plus so many things happened, that contributes to my failure in achieving a better reading. I am still trying and struggling at the same time.

What I've tried so far :

1. celery + green apples
2. Tamarind skin with hot water
4. A few suppliments
5. Reduce sodium intake (actually I don't use much salt in my cookings)
6. Kiwi

I think the best thing to do right now is not to think too much.... but will I be able to? Aja aja fighting mama!!!

T.H.E R.E.C.I.P.E

Thank you Tok Mak!

Ingredients :

1 egg *
2 tablespoon milk powder *
250 ml iced water * (egg + milk powder + iced water = 300ml)
50g sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
300g high protein flour
200g all purpose flour
2 teaspoon instant dried yeast
2 tablespoon margarine

Enough raisins

Glazing :
1 teaspoon milk powder
2 teaspoons water

Bread Maker method :

1. Into the breadmaker pan, add in mixture of water, milk powder and egg. Add in sugar and salt.
2. Top it with high protein flour, all purpose flour, instant dried yeast and raisins.
3. Set the bread maker to DOUGH setting and press start. When the dough is just combined, add in margarine. Leave the bread maker to finish the cycle which will takes about 1 1/2 hour or so.
4. Remove the dough from the pan and divide the dough into 20 equal portions. Roughly about 50g each.
5. Form each portion into a ball. Arrange the rolls on a greased baking tray and leave to prove till double the size.
6. Brush the proved rolls with milk.
7. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180c for 25 minutes or till golden brown.
8. Once out of the oven, brush with a bit of butter. Place on a wire rack to cool. Keep in an airtight container.

Have a nice day!

  2. Hi Mamafami, your raisin bun certainly look good and delicious. Very nice and fluffy.

Take care my dear. Relax and don't think too much.
Have you try star fruit juice, good for high blood pressure. Or guava juice.
You can also boil a bunch of daun ketumbar, drink the soup only. Don't add anything.

    Have a nice day. Regards.

  9. Mama, sodium is present in many types of food n it's not limited to table salt alone. Table salt is sodium chloride but sodium is present in processed food n other food (naturally occurring). So controlling table salt intake alone is not sufficient. Do take care n get well quickly.

  10. Hello Mamafami
I was browsing in another blog and it brought me here because I was captured by your lovely Raisins Buns. It was so well and baked golden brown. Feel like having a piece now. I am going to bookmarked this buns. I just made some butter buns not long ago too.

  11. Hi MamaFami, you mentioned High Blood Pressure. Perhaps Flaxseed oil and low fat Kwark. I was consumming 1 tsp organic cold pressed flaxseed oil blended well with 3 tsps Low fat Kwark/Quark (americans use low fat cottage cheese). I have normal blood pressure but after that month of being on this Flaxseed oil and Kwark, my blood pressure went down to 110. Would you like to look up on Flaxseed oil and Kwark/ Quark (dutch/german) or low fat cottage cheese. It's part of the Budwig Diet. I wish you success in bringing down your blood pressure. Good Luck.

  12. MamaFami,
Sorry to hear that you have hbp. Hope you will be better soon.
I'm interested to try this recipe. What if I don't have all purpose flour? Can I use Bread Flour and what is the effect to the end-product?
    Appreciate your advice.

  13. Dear MamaFami, thank you so much for sharing the bread recipes.. I made 1 batch of buns yesterday using: http://mamafami.blogspot.com/2010/12/soft-butter-bun-channel2004.html

However, I replaced margarine with rice bran oil, replaced HP & Superfine flour with normal flour (that is what i have at home), no bread softer, no egg... and the buns came out well.. :)

You may want to avoid hydrogenated ingredients (high trans fats) are also cause of high blood pressure. http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/article_383.shtml
