Roti Naik Pahang

T.H.E R.A.M.B.L.I.N.G.S

HAPPY DIWALI to all my Hindu friends. One of them that I know is LOVE the proud owner of the lovely blog LOVE2COOK. Do pay her a visit and enjoy all her lovely food photos and also her two adorable kids.

Yesterday night, hubby and me went to visit our girl at her Uni. I brought for her some muffins and buns, fresh from the oven. While waiting, hubby fell asleep. He wakes up early in the morning everyday to go to work, just to avoid the traffic. When I was all ready to go, it was like 8.40pm. He was still sleepy but insisted on driving. When we reached the car park, he continued sleeping. I went to Fatin's room and did whatever I have to do and we went back to the car. Hubby was still fast asleep. We let him continue sleeping while both of us went to the cafe nearby and had a lovely dinner, on Fatin! Not worried about hubby because he had his dinner at home. Maybe he over-ate, that's why he's sleepy! Hahaha... Anyway, I had a nice time with my girl yesterday.... Thank you kakak. Love yer.. next time belanja mama yang mahal punya pulak okay! Ahaks....

Yesterday's hot topic was Roti Naik. All thanks to Sis Lin. I visited her blog and came across this Roti Naik photo. I thought she made the roti naik herself and since I am 'allergic' to bread recipes, I just had to click on that entry. Oh me oh my, now all the bread photos really makes me go haywire! All the lovely buns were from Roti Manis's kitchen. Sis Lin was just helping to promote the business. Do LIKE the page and feast your eyes upon all the lovely bread she has to offer. Just don't go haywire like me! Hahaha...

Then I read this post at Resepi Turun Temurun Keluarga by Mlong Tipah and copied down the recipe. Straight to the kitchen and start the mission. And the end product is so lovely! I followed the recipe exactly and managed to get 20 cute buns. Thank you so much to Tok Mak and Mlong Tipah for sharing this lovely recipe with us. It's indeed a keeper...

Updated : There's a slight confusion here that I need to make it straight. This recipe is actually from Tok Mak and was tested and posted to FB by Mlong Tipah. I thought it was Mlong Tipah's grandmother's recipe. Hahaha.. so sorry Tok Mak! There.. I've put things right.. did I Tok Mak? *wink*

ROTI NAIK PAHANG

Ingredients :

1 egg
2 tablespoons condensed milk
Water (weigh egg + condensed milk + water to make 300ml)
3/4 cup sugar
500 g flour
1 tablespoon milk powder
2 teaspoons instant dried yeast (I used Mauripan)
2 tablespoons margarine
1 teaspoon shortening

Topping :
A bit of margarine
Coarse sugar

Bread maker method :

1. Into the breadmaker pan, pour in the water, egg and condensed milk. Add sugar.
2. Top it with flour, milk powder and instant dried yeast.
3. Set the bread maker to DOUGH setting and press start. When the dough is just combined, add in margarine and shortening. Leave the bread maker to finish the cycle which will takes about 1 1/2 hour or so.
4. Remove the dough from the pan and divide the dough into 20 equal portions. Roughly about 49 to 50g each.
5. Form each portion into a ball and arrange on a baking tray. Leave to rise for another 30 minutes or so.
6. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180c for 30 minutes or till golden brown.
7. Once out of the oven, brush with a bit of butter. Place on a wire rack to cool. Keep in an airtight container.

Have a nice day!

    Mama Acam :
Waalaikumussalam. Mama tak ada buat kelas sebab tak pandai mana pun. Sendiri buat pun tak lepas lagi. Alatan untuk buat roti... mmm yang biasa mama gunakan, pisau plastic untuk potong doh roti tu je and then silicone brush untuk brush the top of the buns. Mama beli kat bakery supplies shops la.. like Yummies, Yen dan Bagus.
