Cheese Cake Meleleh

The 'journey' of my sponge cake does not end there. I've transformed it into another delicious cake, CHEESE CAKE MELELEH.

This cake was made famous quite some time ago, but I just didn't have the heart or shall I say, the courage to try it out, just because of my 'jinx' towards sponge cakes. But when I tasted this cake that I bought from MABIQ (lovely place to dine. Lovely food, lots of variety and very reasonable price too) in Kuantan when we had lunch there two weeks ago, I just fell in love with it. So I said to myself, I've just got to try this out and I did... I can now heave a sigh of relief for not having to crave for this cake anymore...hahaha...

1 cooled SPONGE CAKE

FOR THE CREAM

Ingredients :

250g cream cheese (I used Tatura)
200g condensed milk (I used Saji)
100g Whip cream (I used Value Pride)
50g fresh milk

Method :

1. Beat the cream cheese till creamy, to avoid crumbly mixture.
2. Add in the rest of the ingredients and beat till smooth and slightly runny. Ready to use.
Note : The amount of the ingredients used may be adjusted to your liking. I made some changes to the original recipe.


FOR THE TOPPING/DECO :

125g cheddar cheese - shredded (I used Beqa)

To assemble :

1. Slice the cake to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut to the size of the container you intend to use.
2. Place one piece into the container.
3. Spread some cream to cover the cake.
4. Place another piece of cake on top and spread more cream on top.
5. Sprinkle some shredded cheddar cheese.
6. Ready to serve.

  4. MamaFami! This is meleleh big time! I have been wanting to try sponge cake but I did not have the confidence. But I guess even if the cake jahanam (meaning macam tayar pancet), I can still disguise it with the cream cheese right? Ish! I am supposed to be on diet. I think I better wait first. Nanti I pulak yang jahanam :)

    1. Phong Hong... i used to kantoi when baking sponge cake sampaikan my sifoo said, I have to mandi under the bridge nak buang all the suwey... hahaha... Luckily I didn't give up. Otherwise, won't have the chance to taste this cake, all homemade! Ye la, kalau tak pandai buat sponge cake, surely I will go and rembat any sponge cake from the shop kan... hahaha... Aiseymen... sampai bila you nak diet ni? Janganlah diet... jomlah join I, tak diet... hahaha

  6. Cam senang nak buat, cam sedap jer. Hehehe MF, kalau Kjee buat, kena kurangkan sikit condensed milk or campur evaporated milk. Rasanya okay tak?

    1. Kjee.... I won't suggest to you to reduce the amount of condensed milk used. By right, nak kena add lagi sebab kurang manis. Kalau Kjee nak add evaporated milk instead of fresh milk, mmm I think, ianya akan rasa lebih lemak lah... hehehe....

    wah mama dah sampai ke Mabiq, I'm staying in Kuantan tapi belum ada rezeki lg nak sampai ke sana. People say the food is just delish! Must go and have a try lah one day!

      Ha ah kami dah sampai MABIQ. Kawan hubby belanja kami makan kat sana. The food is indeed delicious, wide range of food served, harga yang berpatutan dan ramai pengunjung. Kalau nak gi, elok pergi by 12 noon. Ce pergi cer.....
