Fried Spagetti

T.H.E R.A.M.B.L.I.N.G.S

I had a confession to make. I had to eat my words! Though it's not that easy to swallow, but I just had to do it. What's done cannot be undone. I registered an account with Facebook under the name MA MAMAFAMI despite being so determined NOT to signup with FB! Ish malunya... nak sorok muka kat mana eh? Eh tapi tak yah sorok pun sebab muka tak pernah terpampang kat sini.... Thanks to Ben Ashaari, Mat Gebu and Ummi!!! But rest assure, we have a solid reason and I just hope that I am taking the right choice........

Fried Spagetti

Fried this spagetti for Syahmi's tuition teacher and his friend a few weeks ago. I had prepared the spagetti according to whatever's available in the fridge that time, hence the few changes from the usual way I prepare fried spagetti.

1 tablespoon spagetti bolognaise sauce (I used Kimballs)
salt to taste
sugar to taste
enough water
red, green and yellow capsicums ~ cubed

Method :

1. Heat a bit of cooking oil in a wok. Add in the chillie paste and fry till fragrant. Add in the minced items (garlic and shallots). Fry for another a minute or two.
2. Add in oyster sauce, spagetti sauce and soya sauce. Mix well.
3. Add water, sugar and salt to taste. Put in the fish cakes and sausages.
4. Add in the cubed capsicums.

Vanilla Muffins

T.H.E R.A.M.B.L.I.N.G.S

Last Monday evening, we brought my 'sick' laptop to the computer shop, to get rid of the virus since the 'antidote' that we 'fed' it didn't manage to kill the worm. If only I can go inside the laptop, I will surely turn into 'virus buster' and spray all the worms dead!!! Muahaha....such imagination! Hubby told that guy to remove the virus and also to fix the space bar key on my keyboard since it's not springy when he uses it. Honestly, I didn't even realise that the space bar key has a problem if he didn't mention it. When we got back my laptop, that's when I REALLY realised there's a problem with my space bar key! This really irritates me. So Ummi and Mat, you can now relax a bit for now because I won't be able to keep the title "FASTEST TYPIST" until this problem is solved...which I doubt very much! Huhuhuhu...

T.H.E R.E.C.I.P.E

I was chatting with Ana Elianas this morning and she had asked me if I have a Vanilla Muffin recipe.Since I don't have the recipe in 'stock', I went on google and landed on this website. Copied the recipe down and off to the kitchen. And wallah...I didn't waste neither my time nor my energy and ingredients, as the muffins turned out lovely. According to Syahmi's tuition teacher, the muffins tasted similar to Kenny Rogers muffins. I thought the same but since I haven't dined at Kenny Rogers for a long time, so I wasn't 100% sure.

Anyway, thank you to Diana Rattray for posting the recipe at About dot Com. Allow me to post the recipe here for the viewing pleasure of dear my visitors. Thank you.

Kue Tiau Ladna

T.H.E R.A.M.B.L.I.N.G.S

Hello everyone! A very good morning to all of you. No Monday blues I hope...may your day be as cheerful as the rainbow colors! I'm back!!! ....but don't really know for how long as I have 2 Korean series to watch. Thanks to Ibu Nor for bribing lending me those CDs. If I were to be missing in action from the cyber world, you know who to blame! Hahaha... Sorry Ibu Nor.....

Had been really busy for the past one week. Fatin was at home, so my job as a driver was doubled. Had to send her here and there to get all the things settled. In a way, I am very grateful I can drive now. At least, we don't have to burden my hubby with all the errands.

Last Saturday afternoon, I was at IKANO to meet up with Kak Liza who was having her cooking demo at Popular Bookshop. Had a nice long chat with Kak Liza but just couldn't wait around to see her demo. I had to rush home to bake the muffins for abah's tahlil that night. I made some brownies as well.Besides that, had to bake 100 pieces of tart shells ordered by Puan Noriza, to be delivered to my sister at my brother's place. Alhamdulillah we made it in good time, before the tahlil started. Was at my brother's place till 12 midnight. Slept at 1.30 am...totally exhausted....

On Sunday, we attended our friend's daughter's wedding at Bandar Enstek. Reached home at 3pm then went to The Summit. Fatin had something to buy and from there we made our way to her hostel.... Looking back at what I had done these past few days.... mmm... I'm surprised I still have the energy! Hahaha....

By the way...... HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAK LIZA!!!

T.H.E R.E.C.I.P.E

Adapted this recipe that I came across in Majalah RASA. The original recipe was Mihun Ladna but since I had bought some Kue Tiau, so I just made Kue Tiau Ladna. I had prepared this dish according to whatever's available in the freezer. Served this to Syahmi's tuition teacher with my mom joining in as well....

2 cloves garlic ~ minced
1 tablespoon cornflour ~ mixed with a bit of water

Cheese Sandwich

T.H.E R.A.M.B.L.I.N.G.S

2 o'clock in the morning....
No, it's not the football thingy... World Cup is done with... and Spain is keeping the Cup at the moment...
I was up late, watching another Korean movie and this time had to make do on YouTube as I don't have the CDs. Blame it on Mak Chu! She's the one who made me watch this movie! For two days, most of the day, I spent infront of the laptop! At the same time trying to sew something.... and did I finish sewing it? No! Hahaha.... Didn't I tell you before, I am no good in sewing! So that explains!

The movie that I watched was FULL HOUSE. It has 16 episodes with 6 parts in each episode. Just calculate how many windows I had to open! 16 times 6 equals 96! Imagine. But that's not really the problem as the internet connection in my house is quite good. The problem starts after episode 12! From espisode 1 till 12, I had watched the Youtube by a Mr Wong (thank you Mr Wong for uploading the movie). I went searching for the rest of the movie as that was the climax part! OMG, how I really searched!!! And finally had to make do with Spanish subtitle!!!! How tensed it was not understanding what they are saying and at the same time can't read any translation especially the parts when explaination was taking place! Still, I don't give up! Aja aja fighting.... as Han Ji Eun would say! I went onto a website that can translate from Spanish to English! Yes, up to that extend! And finally I finished watching it this morning. How do I feel? Yes.... TIRED! I think I might consider purchasing the CDs with English subtitle so that I can just sit back and enjoy episode 13 till the end....... So KOG, do you have that CDs to be paid with sausage rolls? Hahaha... just kidding.....

T.H.E R.E.C.I.P.E

Remember the bread that I had made? Of course you can, it was in the previous entry! Haha... Well, out of that bread, I had made something very simple even a little kid can do, under supervision that is. Got the idea after watching one of the commercials in the television. I had served these to Syahmi's tuition teacher and his friend. It was like now you see it now you don't!

Cheese Sandwich

CHEESE SANDWICH

Ingredients :

6 slices of bread
3 pieces of sliced cheese
enough butter

Method :

1. Spread enough butter on the outer sides of the bread.
2. Place a piece of sliced cheese onto the unbuttered side.
3. Sandwich it together.
4. Put on a hot grill pan. Flip over the other side after 3 minutes or so, depending on how crispy you want your toast to be.
5. Enjoy over a mug of hot Milo.... mmmmm heaven!

Sandwich Bread (Kak Pah)

Jumaa Mubaraq to everyone....

T.H.E R.A.M.B.L.I.N.G.S

Time flies.. It's already Friday. The week is almost reaching it's end. Did we achieve anything in these 5 days period? Well, to those who has, well done, and to those who has not, then work harder... and that is specially dedicated to me! Hahaha..... Haven't been doing much this week. But yes, managed to iron 3 basketful of clothes. Thanks to Princess Hours for that. I ironed while watching. Killing two birds with one stone and makes MamaFaMi a happy lady!!!

I am having problem opening my Gmail account at my laptop. And that makes, updating the blog impossible. This had been going on for 3 days already. I had to use Syahmi's desktop to check my mails and do the updates. Anyone can explain why is this happening? Would appreciate it very much.

T.H.E R.E.C.I.P.E

Last week, Kak Pah gave me a call. I had forgotten why she called but what I remembered clearly, she had promised to pass me her sanwich bread recipe. And she emailed me soon as she put down the phone. Thank you so much Kak Pah for sharing the recipe with me and allowing me to share it with others. Only thing, I improvised slightly to give it a better look.... eh eh... perasan pulak.... cantik ke? Hehehe....

Sandwich Bread

SANDWICH BREAD (improvised)

50 g refine sugar
15g dried instant yeast
10 g voltex or soft pro.(I substitute with bread softener)
Boiled dough – (refer the above) shredded

1. Pour the fresh milk, chilled water, eggs and salt into the bread maker pan.
2. Top it with sifted flour and bread improver, sugar, instant yeast, bread softener and shredded boiled dough.

5. Roll each dough to 1 cm thick. Stack the rolled dough on top of each other and roll like the swiss roll.
6. Place in the loaf tin and close the lid, leaving just a bit of opening. Leave to prove till double the size.
7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 C for 40 minutes. Baking time and oven temperature may differ depending on your oven.

Note :
1. I made 1/2 the recipe. By right, the size of my loaf tin should only fit 1/3 of the recipe.
2. I used all purpose flour in this recipe

Strawberry Muffins (Katie Mae) & Princess Hours

The ramblings...
The blog is left alone for quite sometime now. Will it be left that way forever? Well, that thought did come to mind though, especially when I can't find time to sit in front of the laptop. But then, why must I stop, just because I didn't update frequently? I won't be punished, would I? Now I must go back to the reason why I blogged in the first place.

Reason being...
1. I like to see the photos that I had shoot, be it nice or horrible as long as it's originally shot by me
2. I like to try new recipes. So why must I just waste it like that. Rather, I post it in the blog for my future reference and who knows, it may be some reference to others as well. At least, if not to try out the exact recipe, they'll have some ideas.
3. I like to write... eventhough the tenses are haywire! Actually I was happy that I had started writing when I was in Malawi but that time it was at MamaFaMi's Fotopages. At least now, if I miss Malawi, I can always read my Fotopage.

Conclusion : InsyaAllah I will keep writing...as long as I am happy doing so....

I had been busy these couple of days. Not with orders actually, but with 24 CDs! This time it was a Korean movie, entitled Princess Hours. I borrowed the CDs from Ibu Nur Azliah. Thank you so much Ibu.... aiyooo mak chu kata, kena bayar dengan fruit tart dan blueberry tart eh? Boleh cam tu? Tart pun tartlah...nak tengok punya pasal! I just love the story..it's like fairy tale and I love fairy tales..... plus the actor and actress are so good looking! But then, after watching that movie, I am really glad I am married to my husband and doesn't have to go through all the tiring ordeal. Why did I say that? Watch the movie and you'll understand why! *Wink*

The recipe :
Thanks to Katie Mae who had posted the recipe at Allrecipes. Allow me to post it here for future reference.

Pain au Lait

Jumaa Mubaraq to all......

2 minutes....
It took me just 2 minutes to reach Syahmi's school if I had to! The distance from school to our house is about 3km... I think I can do better than that if there are no humps along the way! Bad mama huh? Forever speeding! I used to be tensed everytime I have to do that, but now, especially this morning, I felt thrilled! Mmmmmm something wrong with me? Got to get my head checked or what! Hahaha...

Speaking of getting checked, yesterday evening, I went back to the clinic to get my ears checked. Bad news. The ear drops didn't help. The 'uninvited guest' is still there, only slightly less. So the doctor is referring me to EnT to shoo my 'uninvited guest' away! Huhu... to tell you honestly... I am pretty scared! Though the pain is gone, but the thought of having 'something else' in the ears really bothers me!

The recipe...........

Pain au Lait

Found this recipe at Pook's Blog. Since the look of her buns are so pretty, I just had to try out this recipe on my own. Though mine doesn't look as lovely as hers, but the taste is there. Authentic Mexican Tortillas & Fish Nugget Filling

SPAIN WON!
GERMANY LOST!

Are you a fan of Spain mama?
Mmm....No....
Then are you a supporter of Germany?
Errr....Not really....
Then who are you supporting?
GOALS!...Hahaha....

That was the same answer given by hubby when Syahmi had asked his dad, which football team is the daddy supporting. Yesterday night, hubby actually stayed up to watch the match. Of course he can managed to stay up. He slept nicely before the game started. I didn't watch the whole match. I guess the TV was watching me more! Hahaha......

The recipe :

Tortilla

AUTHENTIC MEXICAN TORTILLAS
Source : Jamie Mikall Martinez of AllRecipes dot com

Ingredients :
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup hot water

Method :

1. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Either by hand or with a pastry cutter, cut in the shortening till the mixture is crumbly. If the mixture looks more floury than crumbly, be sure to add just one or two more tablespoons of shortening till it is crumbly. Add about 3/4 cup hot water to the mixture, or just enough to make the ingredients look moist.
2. With your hand or a large fork, knead the mixture making sure to rub the dough against the sides of the large mixing bowl to gather any clinging dough. If the dough still sticks to the side of the bowl, add a couple more tablespoons of flour until the dough forms a soft round shape. The dough is ready to roll out now, but it is best to let it rest. Cover it with a dish towel, and let it sit for about an hour or so.
3. Take the dough, and pull it apart into 10 to 12 balls. Lightly flour your rolling area, and roll each ball with a rolling pin to about 1/8 inch thickness.
4. Place each tortilla on a medium hot cast iron skillet. Cook for about 1 to 2 minutes on each side, or until the tortilla does not look doughy.

FISH NUGGET FILLING (for half the recipe of the tortillas)
Source : Majalah SEDAP

Ingredients :

8 pieces fish nugget ~ fry till golden brown then sliced.
3 button mushroom ~ sliced
1/2 red capsicum ~ julienned
1/2 onion ~ sliced thinly
1 teaspoon chillie paste
salt to taste
zeal ~ optional
olive oil

Method :

1. Heat olive oil and add in the chillie paste. Fry till fragrant.
2. Add in onion, capsicum and mushroom.
3. Add salt to taste and zeal.
4. Stir in the sliced fish nugget and remove from heat.

Since Syahmi is not a fan of fish nuggets, he doesn't quite like the filling. His likes the Tortilla though. Thanks to AllRecipes for sharing the recipe with us.

Have a nice day!

Fatin's C.A.F.E

I am pretty busy at the moment, trying to get things in this house back in order. Meanwhile, let me just post the menu at Fatin's Cafe!

Yesterday, Fatin's school had their Entrepreneur's Day and Fatin's group decided to open a cafe. And these were among the menu at the cafe, fresh from MamaFaMi's kitchen. Brownies, Chocolate Muffins, Coffee Chips Muffins, Cupcakes and Fruit Tarts. I sent the goodies at about 9.20 am and Fatin said it's all finished by 12 noon. Peggy's Pita Bread & Chicken Filling

What I'll be sharing afterwards.....

Yesterday, almost everything didn't turn out as planned...
Firstly.... Syahmi and Iddin had to stay in school till 5pm. They only have a half an hour break from 2.30 pm till 3.00 pm before the sports activities starts. So I had planned to bring them packed lunch and their sports clothes to change. That, I thought would save me a trip to and fro. I brought along the lunch basket at 2.30pm. When Syahmi jumped into the car, he said that he wanted to go home and change because the changing room is locked. No choice, but to drop Iddin home and told him to be ready by 2.55pm. When we reached home, I just had to rush Syahmi to pray and get changed. Luckily he had eaten his lunch in the car. I really had to be a lady tarzan just now or he'll take his own sweet time! By 3.02pm, the boys were safely back in school. And mama didn't rempit that much okay...or...did I? Ahakss.....
Secondly... I thought I would be meeting Zai in the evening but she couldn't make it. Instead Kak Noha and her daughter Ijah, dropped by
Thirdly... I wanted to fry kue tiau for my visitors, but ended up frying instant dried noodles instead...

But at least, something did turn out according to plan. The lunch! The night before, I had google-ed for Pita Bread recipe. And I settled down with this one. It was the right choice, alhamdulillah. Thank you to Sandy of Allrecipes dot com for sharing this wonderful recipe with us. Allow me to share it once again here.

I made half the recipe and managed to get 5 good sized pita breads. I had stuffed the bread with chicken fillings and vegetables. Sounds healthy huh? Iddin just took one and the rest was history in Syahmi's hungry tummy! Yes, he ate the other 4. I just tasted a bit of the crumbs from the bread! But I am very sure, the bread must be very good judging by how Syahmi had enjoyed the bread. So if you wish to give it a try, here's the recipe.

PeggyPitaBread

PEPPY'S PITA BREAD

Once pitas a softened, either cut in half or split top edge for half or whole pitas. They can be stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for several days or in the freezer for 1 or 2 months.

Note :

I had followed the Step 1 and Step 2.
I heated the grill pan and place the pitas on the pan till the bottom is brown. Then move it into the grill and bake till golden brown.
